Baccarat Banker Bet: The Full Commission Math
Banker acts second and sees the player's third card before drawing, a structural information edge worth about 0.68% per hand; the 5% commission claws most of it back but leaves banker at roughly 1.06% versus 1.24% for player.

The commission makes banker feel like the more expensive bet, since you watch the dealer skim a visible 5% off every win. The number says the opposite: banker still costs about 18 cents less per $100 than player, purely because it wins slightly more often even after the toll.
Why 5%, and not banker's true edge of zero
If casinos wanted to charge exactly enough to erase banker's structural advantage and land both bets at the same edge, the "fair" commission would be about 4.88%. Rounding up to a flat 5% is easier to compute at the table and leaves the house a slightly larger, deliberate margin.
